SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife carries out maintenance work and adaptation of the public space in the Chío recreational area in Guía de Isora with a set of works awarded last year for a budget of 555,440.98 euros.
Simultaneously, two works are being carried out, the first one, based on the construction of two toilet modules, one for the picnic area and the other for the camping area, and a second project, consisting of conditioning the access to entrance, parking and a new area for motorhomes.
“The Chío recreational area needed some improvement works, it is a space that is quite frequented by the population and that showed some notable shortcomings”, the Minister of Natural Environment Management and Security, Isabel García, who visited the works last week.
García also pointed out that these interventions are not limited only to public use and pointed out that “a large part of this project is aimed at improving the evacuation capacity of runoff, which with intense rains, produces significant damage and accelerates erosion processes ” .
In addition, he said that “the construction of the two toilet modules has involved the demolition of the current one, bringing them closer to the areas of use and improving the adaptability of the services.”
These facilities will be adapted for intensive use, with photovoltaic power, a wastewater treatment system and toilets specially designed to withstand possible acts of vandalism, “unfortunately common in this type of venue.”
For her part, the mayor of Guía de Isora, Josefa Mesa, pointed out during her visit to the recreational area that “this reform not only improves the space but also offers new possibilities for the use of services in the camping area and the space to the caravans, in addition to the renovation of the children’s playground in a recreational area that is one of the most important on the island and offers a leisure alternative to families and people who want to spend the night and camp in nature”.
