Residents of Alcalá, Varadero, Playa de San Juan and Fonsalía already benefit from the new top-quality desalinated water supply networks and connections in their homes. After the start-up of the new Alcalá II reservoir in December – a project financed by the Insular Water Council – service provision and water quality have been significantly improved with a supply mix of 60% desalinated water and a 40% groundwater.
The water from the Fonsalía desalination plant (EDAM) and the pertinent works to make it reach the coast and mid-level towns in the municipality will improve the quality of service and sustainability, guaranteeing a stable flow and optimal pressure. Once all these works are completed, “Guía de Isora will become the municipality with desalinated water at the highest altitude in all of Spain”, highlights the mayor.
