That the prices of private car parks in Santa Cruz are among the highest in Spain is hardly disputed by anyone. The reason is the lack of review of the conditions of a public concession that in recent years has lacked municipal control. Until very recently, the public car parks in the capital were governed almost autonomously, among other things due to the lack of response from the public part to the communications they carried out, accepting the administrative silence as good. With the elaboration of a report by the City Council of Santa Cruz on the current conditions of these public concessions, it was concluded that the practical majority did not comply with the conditions of the tender.
Thus, after that update report, the City Council is addressing the different dealers to regularize their prices. The last one that the City Council has addressed is the public car park that is located in the surroundings of the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium. In this case, after analyzing its prices, the City Council has ordered the concessionaire to reduce the price of the parking hour by 20 cents, as well as to update the payment of the annual fee, since it has been paying around 5,000 euros a year for below what the IPC update marked.
Thus, of the 1.40 euros per hour that this public car park currently charges, with 1,067 spaces, for parking, but also for the sports fields and complementary facilities, it must be charged 1.20 euros, that is to say , 20 cents less than what is currently being charged. That means that 0.02 cents per minute is charged.
In addition, he must pay almost 16,000 euros as an update of the annual canon that he must pay for this concession, since, at least in the last four years, those that are computable, since from then on the irregularities have prescribed, was paid an average of 5,000 euros less per year for that concession. Specifically, 15,346 euros must be paid for this concept.
The City Council gives a month for prices to be regularized in the amounts indicated. All this after the concession company presented its corresponding allegations. Previously, the Consistory had addressed other car parks, the one on the Serrador bridge, to update their prices, in this case, to lower them by 66%. From the City Council it is indicated that the price review will be followed.
