This Monday, around 9:30 a.m., a fire broke out involving material accumulated on a site near the Central of Las Caletillas. Local Police and Civil Guard moved to the area alerted by 112, as well as Civil Protection volunteers, given the situation, the Fire Brigade was activated, which was in charge of extinguishing the fire without further incidents.
At the moment, the fire does not affect the center of Las Caletillasalthough it may seem so due to the direction that the smoke has taken due to the impulse of the wind.

The fire originated in some booths set up five years ago by a group of evicted people from Bajo La Cuesta, which for a year, already abandoned, became a kind of wooden market, with the collection of all kinds of material brought up there by Oto, an African from Ghana, who has lived in that place ever since, where it was lit by candles, although these could be ruled out as a hypothesis of the cause of the fire, because according to the residents of Bajo la Cuesta, days ago that Oto was not around.
Since 1-1-2 they have asked people who are in the area to be careful about the amount of smoke that is coming out of the burning booths at the moment.
