SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The island director of Tourism of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Laura Castro, together with the CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, David Pérez, held a working meeting with technicians from the United Airlines company with a view to the inaugural flight on June 9 and that It will take the US airline to connect the island with New York three times a week.
Castro highlighted the work that is being carried out with United Airlines, as well as with Turespaña, to guarantee that the flight is not only a success, but that it survives over time, with the aim that the route is consolidated in the first two years.
“Our market diversification strategy in the case of the North American profile will allow us to capture travelers with medium-high purchasing power, for which the island has high-standard infrastructures that meet their expectations,” he said in a note.
The insular director added that this route is the result of the impulse that the Cabildo, under the presidency of Pedro Martín, is giving to the Tourism area and with it “a market opportunity is created” that goes beyond the sector and with which it hopes that North Americans discover the entire island at a time when “distances are getting shorter” and that they be “surprised” by its gastronomy, climate, nature and culture.
Likewise, the new connection offers new business possibilities in which work is done in parallel.
Laura Castro recalls that the Cabildo de Tenerife has launched various promotional actions that, together with the new representative office in the United States, “will allow potential travelers to be captured through the emotions and experiences of great experiences in the island” while thanking the absolute collaboration that United Airlines is providing.
The CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez announced that at the work meeting “the welcome preparations and the commemorative acts of the inaugural flight were finalized, as well as the actions to be carried out on the first flights, both from New York to Tenerife and to the reverse, with the aim of achieving the consolidation of this line within a period of two years”.
David Pérez explained that last week Tenerife participated in a meeting in Miami with 58 professionals from the sector, which was attended by buyers with high purchasing power invited by Turespaña and in which other Spanish destinations also participated.
Among the guests were the director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz, and the highest representatives of this organization in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and New York.
In addition, he recalled Tenerife’s attendance at the Annual Congress of the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA), which took place from December 8 to 10 in San Diego (California), an event that allowed the island to come into contact with the North American tourist industry, in a potential market of 330 million people, to which we must add 40 million more than the Canadian.
MEETING WITH 42 TRAVEL AGENTS FROM THE ISLAND
On the other hand, the airline’s delegation held a meeting with the Canarian Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (ACAVyT) to inform them of the details of the air connection.
In this way, a total of 42 travel agents, in addition to the president of the association, David Déniz, took part in the presentation, led by Antonio de Toro, Country Sales Manager of United Airlines, together with the Regional Director-Central Europe & Iberial-Worldwide Sales, Guido Araujo.
