“Dedazo”, “favoritism” or “fudge” are some of the adjectives used by the opposition in the Santa Cruz City Council to define the nullity of the emergency contract that the Sports area, headed by Alicia Cebrián, awarded to a company for the repair of 11 soccer fields, a modality that allows skipping the usual steps of a tender, such as, for example, making a public call to receive offers.
The PSOE requested the appearance of Cebrián to explain what he is going to do now, once the Consultative Council, at the initiative of the City Council itself, has certified the nullity of the contract. Cebrián recalled that it was she who, in the face of possible irregularities, began the ex officio review process that has ended with the nullity of the award and that all the steps established by law will be taken to clarify what happened in this case. From the PP they confirmed, after her appearance, that responsibilities will be purged, as claimed by the PSOE, which demanded that Cebrián act “or the rest of us will do it where appropriate.”
And it is that, as they recalled from the PSOE, not only was the emergency contract formula used improperly, but it was awarded to the company that made the most expensive offer and that, in addition, did not meet the necessary solvency.
