At the first of the contests scheduled for the founding festivities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the election gala for the queen of the May festivities 2022, a total of 38 candidates have been presented. Although, as established in its regulatory bases, they will only be able to aspire to thirty, according to a rigorous entry registration order.

For the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, the “success of the call demonstrates the desire of the residents of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to recover the traditions and to celebrate the festivities that unite us, in the common spaces”.

In this sense, the mayor encourages “participation in the rest of the calls that are still open”, since “they represent the progressive return to social and economic normality of our municipality”. Thus, the City Council of Santa Cruz, through the Autonomous Organization of Festivals and Recreational Activities (Oafar), keeps registration open for four contests. Specifically, until April 20, those corresponding to the Natural Flower Crossing Contest in the different neighborhoods of the city will be admitted; those of the XIV Contest Exhibition of School Crosses made with recycled materials; and for the Exhibition of crosses on the Rambla de Santa Cruz.

In addition, on May 8 the formalization period will end to participate in the traditional Canarian typical food contest, which recovers its face-to-face format in the Plaza de la Iglesia de la Concepción.

Both the bases of the contests for the Fiestas de Mayo, as well as the registration bulletins can be consulted and downloaded at this link.
