SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Tenerife Bluetrail 2022 already exceeds 2,000 registered just two months after its celebration. This is the highest race in Spain and one of the most emblematic on the national and international scene, both for its layout and for its technical demands.

The organization has provided a total quota of 2,900 runners for the seven modalities that are planned. The Bluetrail this year has again the support of the Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc (UTMB), the most prestigious event in the world of the specialty.

The island councilor for Sports, Concepción Rivero, confirmed that so far 2 out of 10 registered are women, “a percentage that confirms the interest that the test arouses among athletes and that rises to 26% in the case of the Media” .

The next edition of the race, which will take place from June 2 to 5, will have a maximum of 2,900 runners, but the limitation of participants who cross the Teide National Park is maintained to respect the territory and the quality of the race .

Given the success of the Trail Relay and Vertical modalities, this year the available places have increased, to 100 couples and 200 runners, respectively. The Ultra version will have 500 participants, just like the Trail, while the Half and Marathon have already exhausted the 700 places that each of these modalities had available.

As for the ages of the participants, so far the ranking is headed by runners between 45 and 49 years old, followed by those between 40-44 and those over 50. On the contrary, athletes between 20 and 30 years old appear at the registration queue, so the average age of the participants is 43 years.

Concepción Rivero also highlighted the novelties planned for the race, “which this year launches new routes and schedules, in addition to the start of the Ultra modality for the first time from El Médano beach or that of the marathon from the Basilica of Candelaria, which that will make visible two of the most emblematic enclaves of the island”

The Minister of Sports recalls that the Tenerife Bluetrail 2022 “has been chosen by the Spanish Federation of Mountain and Climbing Sports (FEDME) as one of the tests that will decide the components of the Spanish team that will compete in the next World Championship of the Ultra modality, a circumstance that will attract the best runners in the specialty”.

There will also be news in the vertical night race, which will be held this year between Barranco Hondo and Las Lagunetas until completing a 5.25-kilometre route with a drop of 990 meters.

The Tenerife Bluetrail, organized by the Cabildo through Ideco, will pass through the municipalities of Candelaria, La Matanza, La Victoria and Santa Úrsula for the first time, where the test will cross the so-called Los Sanguinos forest, a place of great beauty and value ecological unique in the Canary Islands for some tree species characteristic of the laurel forest that have been grouped in this area forming a peculiar and unusual forest. Vilaflor, La Orotava, Granadilla and Puerto de la Cruz complete the list of municipalities that will host the 2022 edition.

The Tenerife Bluetrail will have seven modalities this year: the Ultra, 102 kilometers; the Trail, with a distance of 73 kilometers, which also has a relay modality with sections of 25 and 48 kilometers; Marathon, with a total distance of 44 kilometers; Medium, which runs a distance of 24 kilometers, and the Bluetrail Challenge for people with disabilities, which includes three distances of 7.2, 5 and 1.2 kilometers that coincide with the end of all the races, in addition to the vertical night race of 5.25 kilometers to be held on June 2.
