Domínguez (PP) accuses the Government of the Canary Islands of “playing with the life and future” of Canarian families
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has guaranteed this Tuesday the commitment of his Executive for free education from zero to three years to guarantee the work-life balance of families and help mothers.
“We are not going to change the roadmap”, he responded in the control session to the Popular Group, defending the plan to create 5,000 places until 2025 with 10 million of own funds and another 40 million of European resources.
He has indicated that the deployment of this initiative will be done in agreement with the municipalities and private schools, in such a way that 1,300 children will be enrolled each year and there will be scholarships for those from private schools.
In addition, he has indicated that in this Legislature “firm steps” have been taken, such as a decree that allows municipalities to invest in this sector with an economic collaboration of the Government and families of 66% and the increase in funds for private schools which has gone from 1.7 million to 2.6 million to increase the number of beneficiary students to 1,300.
The president of the popular party, Manuel Domínguez, has criticized that Torres has voted against signing agreements with private schools in the last ‘Debate on the State of Nationality’ and that he has allowed the Minister of Education, Manuela Armas, “not has not met even once” with the private centers.
Likewise, he has said that the Government has defended the creation of public squares in places where there are none and the plan excludes La Gomera and El Hierro.
According to Domínguez, this project “will end hundreds of jobs” in the sector, with 92% of them occupied by women and 85% in private centers. “You are nobody to play with the life and future of Canarian families,” she stressed.
