The rate of job creation in the last year in the municipality has been very positive, which has allowed a return to levels of unemployment prior to the crisis generated by Covid-19, with a notable cut in the number of applicants that has decreased in more than 600 people in the last twelve months.
According to the data made public by the Canarian Employment Observatory (Obecan), referring to the month of March, it can be seen that in the month of March 2021 there were 1,219 job seekers registered. In the same month of 2022 that figure has fallen by 616 people, above all, due to the pull of the tourism sector and to a lesser extent by the services and commercial sector.
If we add to this that the City Council has activated mechanisms to help small and medium-sized companies and the local taxi sector and the large investment contributed to social employment plans together with entities such as the Canary Islands Employment Service and the Island Council from Tenerife for which the council has allocated more than 600,000 euros in the last two years and which have benefited more than 150 people; We are talking about the fact that although there is still a lot to do, things are getting back on track and allowing the municipality to return to the levels it was in not long ago, with almost full employment.
