The tram promotes the annual campaign of the Association Against Cancer

Metrotenerife promotes in ten tram stops the Annual campaign of the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC). The motto chosen for the collection scheduled for next May 12, How can we help you?, will remain for a little over a month. The Councilor for Mobility of the Cabildo and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, explains the advertising placements of part of the network that host this action, the objective of which is to publicize the free services offered by the AECC to patients and relatives, in addition to detailing the forms of contact and collaboration for the aforementioned collection. Arriaga points out that the aforementioned campaign is possible thanks to the Metrotenerife Social Responsibility Plan. In this sense, given the publicity impact of the light rail in the metropolitan area, thousands of people will have the opportunity to know that AECC in Santa Cruz de Tenerife offers free services of psychological care, social orientation, physiotherapy and prevention or support for cancer patients. and relatives.

Again, with this type of solidarity actions, The Tenerife Tram proves to be more than a transport service “by carrying out an important work of awareness and social awareness on various realities »values ​​the insular councilor.

Enrique Arriaga also underlines that with the launch of this campaign “the collaboration agreement that both entities have maintained for several years is ratified and renewed.”

“I invite the whole society”

Likewise, the also vice-president of council invites society to support the next national collection campaign on May 12 and during the rest of the year, if possible, “because the more we are, the more we will help improve the care of cancer patients and advance research into the disease”

The provincial vice president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, David Cova, remarks that on May 12 the AECC resumes the day of the collection. The proceeds will be dedicated, fundamentally, to research through different projects. For example, in the case of Tenerife, you will have translation in the start-up of a predoctoral fellowship.

As data to measure the work of the group, the AECC of Tenerife offered social care services to a total of 1,020 people and families during the first half of 2021, when the pandemic generated a serious crisis due to the reduction of income in companies, self-employed and families. The objective of these actions consisted both in providing economic aid and other types of material resources to cancer patients in difficulty.

David Cova thanks the Cabildo and Metrotenerife for the support and facilities they have given to take the campaign to the tram stops and Publiservice Canarias, for their collaboration in the design, printing and logistics of the posters.
