The Municipality of La Laguna has begun the channeling works of the La Triciada ravineon its way through the Center for Infant and Primary Education of Las Mercedes“to create a new access to the school and, thus, be able to unlock the construction of a covered sports center for the center, a historical demand of the educational community”, as announced by the local government.

Luis Yeray Gutierrez remembered that CEIP Las Mercedes is located at “one of the coldest and rainiest places in the municipality from The lagoon and it does not currently have covered and comfortable facilities in which students can do physical exercise». From the Municipality of La Laguna They insist that they will work to make this infrastructure a reality as soon as possible. “And the works that we have started, without a doubt, are the first step to achieve it,” Gutiérrez advances.

Josimar Hernandez added that access to the rear of the Las Mercedes school it is closed to traffic “due to its very poor condition, which makes driving on this road a risk for pedestrians and drivers.” The existing problem, according to the technical document that justifies this intervention, is that “the transversal drainage work that crosses the ravine, on which the current step was made, has significant damage caused by the loss of the covering of the reinforcements, of the vaults of the slab and the covering of the joists, causing a generalized oxidation of the entire structure».

To put an end to this situation of insecurity, “the project we are carrying out includes a new entrance to the school through the area of ​​Tarajal street and the ravine. This will be key to undertake the covered facility for the center, one of the main needs of the educational community that can now be covered, “said the mayor.

Josimar Hernandez highlighted that the creation of the access, together with the road resurfacing “that we are carrying out in the area, such as the one already completed in The Triciada roadafter more than ten years without being completely resurfaced, will considerably improve road safety in this residential area, notably facilitating circulation and also reducing the risk accidents».
