Los Realejos embroiders it with the poster of the Fiestas de Mayo

The Realejos you already have a poster the Holidays of May 2022the first to be held again as before, if nothing goes wrong in the coming weeks regarding the pandemic of Covid-19. And judging by the reception of the work, its author, Philip Lawrence, has embroidered it. Social networks have been filled with positive comments about a poster that is a tribute to the festivals most loved by the realejeros and also to the craft embroidery.

The first deputy mayor of Los Realejos, Adolf Gonzalez; the Councilor for Festivals, Joseph David Cabrera, and the illustrator Philip Lawrence were in charge of presenting this Monday, April 4, in the Plenary Hall of the City Council, the poster for the May 2022 Festivities of The Realejos, which includes the significant elements of these celebrations. The work has its analogue version, as a printed poster, and an animated version “designed for dissemination through multimedia channels”, as explained by the author himself.

“Using the multiple tools that graphic design allows us, we wanted to capture in the illustration each of the main elements that make up the May festivities through icons emulating the technique of traditional embroidery, thus showing the generational mix between the customs of our ancestors that the festival itself contains and the most modern and current formats that serve to promote it”, he explained. Philip Lawrence.

May 2022 Festivities Poster The day

“This magnificent work as a poster is the key that opens the door of the festive May where all eyes on the island of Tenerife turn to our Municipality of Los Realejosso we will continue to put all the effort and effort into carrying out the programming with the maximum splendor and normality possible”, he added. Adolf Gonzalez.

Always taking into account the measures established by the competent health authorities, the intention of the local government (PP) is “to recover this year the Fiestas de Mayo as we knew them before 2020so from the City Council and groups linked to these celebrations we have been working for it for weeks”.

“These traditional stitches that the poster shows us represent those that realejeros and realejeros have been putting over the years to these outstanding festivities of our municipality that just by naming them shrinks our hearts, being perhaps what we have missed the most. least in the last two years,” he added. the party councilor.

Cabrera acknowledged that this is the poster that was being worked on “for the 2020 edition, which at the time could not be, which also contains a greater meaning and feeling.” In his opinion, “if everything goes as planned, we will once again enjoy the main dates of the real May as our Crosses and Firesthe gala of the Romera Mayor, the Pilgrimage Girlthe Ball of Magi, the Pilgrimagethe Festival of the Islands and the traditional recollection of Monday of Remedies, among others”.
