The Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife requests a five-year prison sentence for a man, with a criminal record for family violence and threats, accused of trying to kill his father with a knife at his home in La Laguna, Tenerife.
The indictment, collected by Europa Press, indicates that the events occurred one night when the man insistently knocked on the door of the house until the father opened it and began to shout “tell me now about the video, tell me now”.
Before arriving home, moreover, he had written the following message to his father: “You almost made it, better I don’t catch you before the ambulance, you brainless faggot, you’re here to be locked up for life in a psychiatric hospital , you and your family are going to drop a cigar that you are going to regret, enough of grumbling, flogged by an electrified whip”.
Due to the state of excitement that he presented, the father managed to get them to go to sleep but at one point when he was in his room, his son pounced on him, stuck a knife into his abdomen and arms repeatedly and fled.
However, the father managed to immediately call the Police, who came to the house together with an ambulance to give him medical assistance.
As a result of the attack, the father of the accused presents as sequels an osteoarthritic deformity in the third finger of his left hand, various scars on his arms, hands and hemithorax and loss of sensitivity and some limitation of mobility in the hand, injuries of which It took 96 days to heal and for which he required surgical medical treatment and rehabilitation.
At the time of the events, the defendant – who is in pretrial detention – was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia with a psychotic outbreak, dissocial personality disorder and harmful use of cannabis, for which his intellectual and volitional capacity “was seriously impaired” .
The Prosecutor’s Office considers that the facts constitute a crime of attempted homicide with kinship as an aggravating circumstance and the circumstance exempts incomplete mental derangement.
In addition, it requests the internment of the accused in a psychiatric center for five years and the payment of compensation of 13,000 euros.
The trial is held next week at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
