Five companies from Tenerife will participate in a training and consultancy program organized by the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and the Cabildo whose purpose is that they can introduce the UN among their clients, through participation in the tenders launched by the United Nations. The annual turnover of the UN It is 23.3 billion dollars, explained the Chamber of Commerce, which highlighted that it is an organization that offers a collection guarantee, with a default rate of 0%, that seeks to work with small and medium-sized companies and that opens the doors to participate in other international organizations.
This is the second year in which the Training and Strategic Consultancy Program for Access to the UN Market has been launched, through the Tenerife Licita project, led by the Chamber of Commerce and the Cabildo of Tenerife. The five participating companies will receive training given by officials and representatives to the United Nations, as well as individual advice. All of this will allow them to obtain a business diagnosis, the creation of an individualized market access strategy, the identification of the purchasing agents for the products or services of each participating company and the obtaining of the United Nations supplier certification.
This consultancy is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the province and the Cabildo de Tenerife
The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santiago Sesé, considers that Canary Islands companies have as a “great advantage” over European competitors their geostrategic position off the African coast. “We can become a solvent and competitive supplier to cover all the needs of the different United Nations agencies present in Africa”, Sesé stressed.
Tenerife companies have the opportunity to become “suppliers of the largest multilateral organization in the world”, with a default rate of 0% and exemption from direct and indirect taxes. In most cases, companies do not take advantage of business opportunities and access to new markets through multilateral organizations because they are unaware of their existence or because of the apparent complexity of their bidding processes, and facilitating these processes is the objective of Tenerife Licita .
The United Nations distributes its functions and activities throughout the world, with very diverse demands that offer opportunities for practically all economic sectors. The UN seeks to work with small and medium-sized companies and facilitates access to other international and multilateral organizations such as the World Bank or the African Development Bank. According to the Councilor for Foreign Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Liskel Álvarez, this work with the United Nations “is a pioneer in the Canary Islands”.
