The Cabildo de Tenerife will help municipalities and businesses with 850,000 euros to boost sales

The Council of Tenerifethrough the area of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, will allocate this year 850,000 euros to two calls for aid aimed at both municipalities and small and medium-sized businesses with the main objective of attracting new consumers and boosting sales.

This was stated by Minister Carmen Luz Baso at the meeting she held today, Friday, with the island’s city councils to present the action plan planned for this year in the commercial area, which also includes a reinforcement of training and promotional actions. The meeting, held both online and in person, was also attended by the insular director of Socioeconomic Development, Ermitas Moreira.

Carmen Luz Baso highlighted the resumption this year of the ccall for grants for commercial revitalization activities, a line of aid that had been suspended as a result of the pandemic and that now, coinciding with the elimination of health restrictions, is being resumed again, introducing various improvements to strengthen the competitiveness of the commercial fabric of urban centers.

“We have tripled the budget of this call, up to 250,000 euros, in addition to facilitating advance payment and increasing the maximum amount of subsidy per project from 50 to 60%. At the same time we have increased eligible expenses, in order to expand the municipalities’ room for manoeuvre,” said the minister.

This is aid aimed at both town halls and associations of small and medium-sized commercial companies that include a maximum grant of 12,000 euros per project, giving priority to those initiatives that have the greatest scope, both in number of businesses and in relation to the municipalities involved.

During her speech, the Minister also announced the publication from the third quarter of the year of a new call for subsidies to improve the competitiveness of retail, the restaurant industry and personal services. With a budget of 600,000 euros, it includes two lines of aid: one for digital modernization projects and another linked to the transformation and improvement of commercial establishments.

FREE TRAINING FOR THE SECTOR

Carmen Luz Baso also emphasized the launch this year of an online training program aimed at businesses, which any establishment can take advantage of free of charge without leaving the municipality in which it is located. “The objective is to launch an online platform where businesses can access mini courses, lasting 4 or 5 hours, to expand their knowledge in relation to areas related to marketing, modernization or sales techniques, among others,” he added.

These actions will be accompanied by promotional campaigns, with which it will seek to attract new consumers, among which the upcoming launch of a new series of Tenerife Consumption Bonds stands out, with which it is expected to reactivate sales in commercial areas, especially in the smaller municipalities of the Island.
