The mayor of the Tenerife municipality of Guía de Isora, Josefa Mesa, announced this Thursday the approval of the Maguenes Resort project, a luxury hotel complex that will be the first hotel in the Canary Islands commissioned from the famous architect Norman Foster.
The project will go ahead after the plenary session of the Guía de Isora City Council has approved the Maguenes partial plan, which constitutes an advance for the urban project, of a tourist and residential nature, which the Grupo Compañía de las Islas has planned in the area Western (CIO).
The mayor, Josefa Mesa, has underlined in a statement the importance for the municipality that tourist infrastructures of this level are installed in it because, she has indicated, “it follows the line of the type of luxury tourism that has always been pursued from Guia de Isora.
In turn, the company has expressed its satisfaction that a project that will occupy an area of 850,000 square meters and that has been declared of strategic interest in the regional sphere due to its urban, tourist and environmental characteristics, has become a reality.
Antonio Díaz de las Casas, director of the company, has specified that this project, promoted by the president of the CIO group, Francisco Javier Zamorano, is part of a segment of luxury tourism, quality and high purchasing power “for which it has opted always the municipality of Guía de Isora and the island of Tenerife, which in this case have the advice and design of world-class architects, such as Norman Foster or Gary Player”.
The CIO group, through its brand The Tais Hotels & Villas, plans to develop a project that integrates a luxury hotel, an area of villas and a golf course of more than 500,000 square meters “perfectly integrated, sustainable and respectful of their environment,” he adds.
