The council and the Hemophilia Association in the province (Ahete) reaffirm their collaboration on the occasion of the entity’s thirtieth anniversary. The island councilor for Social Action, Marián Franquet, highlights the work on the island of an association that the contribution has been doubled in two years to go from 20,000 to 40,000 euros.
The president of Ahete, Tomás Díaz, assures that “the most important thing is to provide comprehensive support so that people with hemophilia feel protected.” The insular institution and Ahete have maintained a commitment since 2002.
The Noble Hall of the Insular Palace is filled during the commemorative act with the presence of the great family of the group. Franquet highlights the trajectory and that it was one of the first associations to join, in 2014, the Insular Ring of Social Policies.
The counselor values the effort to “decentralize and bring services closer to all people with hemophilia and their families and friends.” The work is to guarantee resources both in the north and in the south and in the metropolitan area to bring social action closer to the need and reach the people.
Tomas Diaz recounts: «My mother was one of the first people who started fighting for this association when it had no name». Ahete today cares for 85 diagnosed people, in addition to carriers and their relatives to encompass more than 250.
