The Cabildo de Tenerife is among the finalists of the ‘XIV edition of the Aslan Awards for Digitization in Public Administrations’, awards with which each year the main companies in the technology sector recognize successful cases of digital transformation in public administration in Spain and to which 67 initiatives from 49 entities have been presented in this edition.
The Second Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Finance and Modernization, Berta Pérez, explains in a note that, specifically, the Cabildo has been selected for its insular cybersecurity project, through which a Cybersecurity Operations Center ( SOC) that includes both the Cabildo and the island’s municipalities and dependent entities.
“It is about having, on the one hand, technological equipment for protection against cyberattacks and their early detection and, on the other, a highly specialized human team capable of managing cybersecurity incidents preventively and proactively,” he says.
Berta Pérez points out that the proposal for this recognition endorses the work that has been carried out in recent years by the Cabildo to develop a Modernization Plan that reverts throughout the island through collaboration with the municipalities, “and that is improving the efficiency and provision of public services to citizens”.
For his part, the insular director of Modernization, Daniel González, details that “the development of this plan linked to cybersecurity, for which a budget of 630,000 euros is planned this year, has been possible through an agreement with the National Cryptologic Center dependent on the National Intelligence Center, for which we have also counted on the participation of technological partners: WatchGuard, FORTINET and the Center for Advanced Services”.
“To date, we have encouraged the municipalities of Vilaflor de Chasna, El Tanque, Fasnia, Los Silos and Buenavista del Norte to apply this plan, thereby obtaining certification in the National Security Scheme. In addition, the work to incorporate the other 12 municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants on the island into the project, so that they can also obtain certification,” he adds.
The selection of the three finalist projects in each category has been carried out through an open and transparent process in which the associated companies Aslan and the Commission for Relations with Public Administrations have participated.
The winner of each of the modalities of this award will be the one that receives the most votes and will be announced at the delivery ceremony, on May 18, within the framework of the #ASLAN2022 Congress.
