SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 31. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Antonio Olivera, said this Thursday that the discount of 20 cents on fuel approved by the central government will be “satisfactory”, especially in the long term.
In a press conference to account for the agreements of the Governing Council, he said that it is a “relevant measure” despite the fact that the effect is temporarily “covered” by the consequences of the market given that the barrel of oil rises but in a story starts to drop, he has predicted that it will feed through to prices at service stations.
“Although now it may be thought that it is not as operational, I am convinced that prices will end up falling and the bonus will be satisfactorily noted,” he commented, while expressing his desire that the competition agencies monitor the execution of measure.
He has said that this mission is the responsibility of state agencies and even if the Canary Islands created their own agency, by virtue of the development of the Statute, it could not cover the surveillance of fuels since they are not applied exclusively to the islands.
Even so, he pointed out that the Canarian competition body is practically finalized by the Ministry of Economy and will be approved before the end of the Legislature and once the Canary Islands-State bilateral commission meets.
