The Council of Tenerife has started the works to rehabilitate the island road TF-211on its way through Nelson Mandela Avenue in the municipality of La Orotavaa performance with a investment of 381,120 euros to restore road safety in this section through which an average of 21,000 vehicles and that presents a significant deterioration with significant cracks, cracking of the pavement, potholes and peeling.
The First Vice President and Minister of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, points out in a note that “the expected duration of the works is about three months, it is a superficial but important rehabilitation of the pavement, the works contemplate other actions related to the improvement and conditioning of the existing drainage through the replacement of a transverse fence and the execution of two new ones, the fitting out of new zebra crossings that will significantly improve road safety”.
It also adds that “the accessibility and safety of pedestrians will be improved with the conditioning of pedestrian crossings and the relocation of a bus stop.”
The island’s director, Tomás Félix García, adds that two types of actions will be carried out to restore the surface.
On the one hand, in the screed areas, the existing layer will be milled and in the areas that show structural exhaustion, the pavement will be reconstructed in a broader layer.
