The isolation suffered by the Anaga massif is a problem that drags on over time and that the administrations responsible for what is also a Biosphere Reserve have not been able to provide a definitive solution. The last project that is going to try to make this technological isolation disappear is the one that the Cabildo de Tenerife, through the investments of the Insular Telecommunications Ring, is going to launch on the TF-12 road, or what is the same, the Anaga dorsal road that runs between Santa Cruz and La Laguna, from San Andrés to Las Mercedes. Along this route, the Cabildo intends to install fiber optics, which guarantees the connectivity of the different population centers that are in the massif. For this, 595,000 euros will be allocated.
The project that describes the performance is on public display until April 8. If this term closes without arguments, the definitive approval and bidding will proceed.
As stated in the document, the action consists of opening a trench parallel to the TF-12 road in which the fiber optics and everything necessary for its distribution to the Anaga towns will be installed. It is intended to carry out this action before the resurfacing of the summit road is carried out, as the neighbors know it.
The works to be projected are basically those for the construction of distribution boxes, pipes and fiber optic laying. The manholes will be installed on the sides of the roads, making them coincide with different locations that are to be interconnected, especially all the settlements that are located in Anaga, access tracks, Cabildo buildings, etc. This network must offer a fluid and efficient high-speed connection between the different sites.
These infrastructures have been projected at all times with criteria to minimize the environmental impact, as well as the effects on the existing infrastructures (road network, other services), both during the execution of the work and in its final impact.
The project on public display describes the work to be carried out, in addition to the possible forms of execution, for which it establishes about two and a half months.
Precisely, during the last plenary session of the Santa Cruz City Council, a PSOE motion was unanimously approved to improve this connectivity in the Anaga Rural Park, with the creation of digital spaces in the municipal centers of Anaga.
