SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 29. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de La Palma will begin next week the works of the provisional road that will connect La Laguna and Las Norias, some works that will be carried out with the maximum safety conditions for the teams that undertake them and with the guarantee of obtaining as a result a road reliable for its future users.
This has been guaranteed by the insular vice-president and Minister of Infrastructures, Borja Perdomo, who highlighted that the high temperatures of the lava flows and the volcanic tubes that are still active forced the modification of the plans and routes of the routes that will unite different points of the Aridane Valley.
To this end, Borja Perdomo stressed, geological studies are carried out on each of the proposals for the route between La Laguna and Las Norias, which crosses the lava flows, revealing the route to follow and which will allow the works to be carried out in complete safety and the locations to be chosen where those roads will be rehabilitated.
The vice president highlighted that to define this route, the maps of the heights of the flows, the cooling temperatures and the volcanic tubes have been taken into account, being able to undertake the works with the least possible number of setbacks that shorten the execution periods of this essential pathway.
In addition, this connection between the north and south of the lava flows will generate other links with other tracks and paths, opening the possibility to continue recovering living and farming spaces trapped between lava flows, as is the case of Cabrejas, El Corujo and the connection of La Majada, at the height of the LP-213 road, and the new road built by the Government of the Canary Islands.
The works will be carried out on both sides of the casting simultaneously in order to reduce execution times as much as possible. Perdomo is aware that “it is not going to be easy, but we will provide all the technical, material, machinery and safety means so that the work is carried out as quickly and safely as possible”.
This new road, in which a gallery will be installed in parallel to house all kinds of basic facilities, will be 3,287 meters long with a platform width of 20 meters with two lanes, one in each direction. The new road, which will be built with recycled and crushed materials from the laundry itself, will have a maximum slope of 10.77% and a minimum of 0.93%, and a circular roundabout will also be built to access the road.
