The pre-alert in the Canary Islands for rain and wind will last until Monday

The yellow notice (pre-alert) for rains and strong gusts of wind, in force from this Saturday, will extend in Canary Islands until next Monday, March 28 (until 4:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m., depending on the islands), according to the forecast of the Meteorology Statal Agency (Aemet). Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are free, for now, from that risk.

On Sunday, a southwest wind is expected, with probable very strong gusts, which could exceed 70 kilometers per hour until late afternoon, in La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera and Tenerife. On summits of Gran Canariathere is also a yellow warning for gusts that could exceed 70 kilometers per hour, but the period changes when the front arrives later, covering from the early hours of the morning to the end of the day.

Very strong streaks are not ruled out in Cumbres de Tenerifewhat could exceed 90 kilometers per hour, during the first half of the day.

The skies will be covered in the Canary Islands and the widespread rainfall could be locally heavy on all islands except Fuerteventura and Lanzaroteaccording to the Aemet.

At sea, a southerly component force 3 or 4 wind is expected that can reach 5 or 6 during the night. It is also expected tidal waves increased to tidal waves and strong swells at night as well as downpours starting at dawn.

By islands, the forecast for this Sunday is as follows:

LANZAROTE

Intervals of high clouds, with cloudy skies and a low probability of some weak and occasional precipitation during the central hours. Temperatures in slight rise, being moderate in the maximum. Loose to moderate east wind turning to the southwest starting at noon and decreasing in intensity in the last few hours.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C):

FUERTEVENTURA

Intervals of high clouds, with cloudy skies and a low probability of some weak and occasional precipitation during the central hours. Temperatures in slight rise, being notable in the maximum of the northern half. Loose to moderate east wind turning southwest in the morning and decreasing in intensity in the last hours.

GRAND CANARY

Cloudy or covered in general, tending to cloudy intervals in the afternoon. Probable widespread precipitation that could be locally strong and in the form of a shower, mainly on the southwestern and eastern slopes. Temperatures with few changes or slightly rising. Southwest wind, more intense on the southeast and northwest slopes, decreasing in intensity in the last hours. In summits, strong southwest wind, with probable very strong gusts, which may reach 70km/h in the second half of the day.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 14 22

TENERIFE

Cloudy or covered in general, tending to cloudy intervals in the afternoon. Probable widespread rainfall that could be locally strong and in the form of a shower, mainly on the western and southern slopes. Minimum temperatures in slight rise, maximum in slight decline, being more noticeable in high areas. Southwest wind, more intense in the extreme northwest, on the eastern slope and summits, with probable very strong gusts, which may reach 70km/h, and decreasing in intensity in the last few hours.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife 18 23

LA GOMERA

Cloudy or covered in general, tending to cloudy intervals in the afternoon. Probable widespread precipitation that could be locally strong and in the form of a shower, mainly on the western and southern slopes. Minimum temperatures in slight rise, maximum with few changes. Southwest wind, more intense on the northwest and southeast slopes and summits, with probable very strong gusts, which may reach 70km/h, decreasing in intensity in the last hours.

San Sebastian de la Gomera 17 21

THE PALM

Cloudy or covered in general, tending to cloudy intervals in the afternoon. Probable widespread rainfall that could be locally strong and in the form of a shower, without ruling out that they are accompanied by storms. Minimum temperatures in slight rise, more pronounced in interior areas; highs in slight decline. Southwest wind, more intense on the northwest and southeast slopes, with probable very strong gusts, which may reach 70km/h, decreasing in intensity in the last hours.

Holy Cross of the Palm 16 20

THE IRON

Cloudy or covered in general, tending to cloudy intervals in the afternoon. Probable widespread rainfall that could be locally strong and in the form of a shower, without ruling out that they are accompanied by storms, mainly on the western and southern slopes. Minimum temperatures in slight rise, maximum without changes. More intense southwest wind in the extreme west and southeast slope, with probable very strong gusts, which may reach 70km/h, decreasing in intensity in the last hours.
