The still councilor for Citizens in the City Council of Santa Cruz and head of the Security area, Evelyn Alonso, yesterday showed her discomfort at the impossibility of presenting a motion to the Plenary that is held tomorrow, as she stated, because the spokeswoman for the mixed group, Matilde Zambudio, prevented his presentation. “This is the second time that I withdraw this motion in which we urge the Government of the Canary Islands to maintain Civil Protection resources in La Palma.”
According to Alonso, “not only has she withdrawn my motion, but she presents one that is practically the same, in support of the people of La Palma, but without the agreements that I had.” “I tried to agree with her -he continued- the inclusion of the agreements and thus try to make it institutional, but she did not even deign to answer me”.
For all these reasons, says Alonso, faced with “this way of acting”, “I have already put this limitation of my rights as a public representative in the hands of my lawyers. I will go where necessary to defend them, because, even if I were a non-attached councilor, which I am not, I would still maintain my right to participate in the plenary session”. Cs presents a motion to the plenary session tomorrow in which it requests that an aid item be allocated from Santa Cruz for the people affected by the eruption of the volcano in La Palma.
