The mayors of the Heritage Cities became interested in the Carnival during their stay in La Laguna this weekend. GIVES

The Department of Festivals of the City Council of La Laguna It is already analyzing a first technical proposal to build the future Carnival School, a building for the rehearsals of the groups of the municipality that participate in this celebration and in which folk groups will also have a place. According to this previous study, the place where the execution of this installation is planned is Country house Spainspecifically in the Pasaje Guarapo area, for an estimated amount of 4.5 million euros.

On the 5,000 square meter plot, a separate construction in two volumes is proposed; in the first, with a double-height multifunctional room and a parking floor; and in the second, with a classroom building, three floors for classrooms, service areas and more parking lots.

The mayor of La Laguna hopes to start writing the project soon

The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, is confident that he will be able to start drafting the project before the end of this exercise “to respond to the historical demand of folklore and Carnival groups, who have been requesting suitable premises in which to rehearse for years. ”. From the Government team we will continue to support them for representing the best of La Laguna, as was shown by the participation of some of them in the events scheduled for the celebration of the General Assembly of the Group of World Heritage Cities and with the words of recognition from the different attending mayors”, he says.

The objective of the future installation -he adds- is that “it offers wide and versatile spaces, with the appropriate acoustic insulation to carry out the different activities without affecting the coexistence in the environment, for which we will analyze in depth all the available possibilities”.

The mayor of Fiestas, Badel Albelo, details that this first document is “only an initial proposal with which we began to walk to develop the project, one of the purposes of this mandate in which we have been working in coordination with Culture and the Organism Self-Employed Musical Activities so that it can see the light as soon as possible”. “The purpose is to solve this historic problem based on the interests and demands of the groups themselves, with a building that meets their needs.” This preliminary report is committed to “an industrialized construction, which would allow cost savings, a more agile execution and less impact, and the placement of solar panels for self-supply, in line with the commitment of this government team to sustainability in the town”.

The mayor, however, insists: “We are talking about a proposal; a first idea on which we will now work, for which we want to have the participation of the groups to which it will be addressed. Therefore, it is a possibility and, as we go forward, we will specify the future design”.

The document prepared proposes the execution of a property divided into two buildings. One of them, the classrooms, will be made up of 30 spaces of 72 square meters adaptable, according to needs, developed on three floors.
