SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 22. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, was in favor this Tuesday of the open territorial conflict between Morocco and Western Sahara having a “fair, lasting and accepted by the parties” solution and under the umbrella of the UN.
In his speech at the ‘Debate on the State of Nationality’, he admitted discordant positions and points in common between the groups in the Chamber, but made it clear that “any proposal that is put on the table” must be accepted by both the Polisario Front , legitimate representative of the Saharawi people, as well as for Morocco. “It has to be like this”, he has detailed it.
Torres has lamented that this litigation “lasts too long” and while waiting for a solution, he maintains that relations between bordering countries must be the best possible.
In this sense, he believes that “it is good” that diplomatic relations between Morocco and Spain be reestablished to put an end, for example, to unilateral decisions by the Moroccan government regarding integrity and territorial sovereignty that have been “categorically rejected by the canarian and central governments”.
Likewise, to implement commercial relations and reinforce the control of migratory flows.
