SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 20. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The general secretary of the PSOE of Tenerife and president of the Cabildo Insular, Pedro Martín, said this Sunday that he hopes to win “with solvency” in the next elections and although he acknowledges that it will be necessary to agree with other parties, he made it clear that “it is over to the elections with marked cards”.
“Where there was a party that said don’t criticize me too much because if not after the elections I won’t agree with you, now we tell it that we don’t need you; it’s that we don’t want to be with you”, said Pedro Martín during his speech at the closing ceremony of the Congress of the PSOE of Tenerife, which takes place this weekend.
“They have been thinking for 30 years that the Cabildo and Tenerife is theirs, but they have run out; let them go to the opposition; let us manage and let us solve years of problems. Let’s start working thinking of people, looking them in the eye” , he claimed.
In his speech, Pedro Martín stressed that the PSOE of Tenerife has worked “intensely” and has paved the way to “start walking together”, choosing a new team for the next four years that will contribute “the best of themselves” to improve the party and the Island. “I don’t want ‘pedromartinistas’ by my side; I want socialists.”
Martín stressed that the new project of the PSOE of Tenerife is characterized by “weaving” different sensitivities into a “unique” project where unity will be a tool to put the institutions to work and, also, to value the importance and weight of the Tenerife socialism in the Canary Islands as a whole.
He stressed that the Tenerife PSOE has to be from now on a “united and strong” party in the face of a situation of economic instability caused by the war in Ukraine, the challenge of immigration or sustainability.
Looking ahead to the next few years, Pedro Martín indicated that the objectives will be to redouble efforts with the comrades and groups that are in the opposition, as well as to put an end to the problems in Garachico, Tacoronte and Arona, “an open wound for the PSOE of Tenerife”.
“Hopefully, the work in the Insular and Regional Executive, so far-sighted, help us to finally be able to solve those problems. Only by yielding will we be able to solve the problems in these municipalities and promote the party to win the elections to the institutions to which we we are going to present”, he concluded.
