The port of Santa Cruz will receive twenty cruise ships between this Monday, the 21st, and Thursday the 31st. According to the forecasts handled today by the Commercial Unit of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the most important dates will be Thursday the 24th, with four ships in portspecifically Iona, MSC Splendida, Mein Schiff3 and World Voyager3, the latter two with operating base ports, which means that their passengers start and end their journey through the Canary Islands in the port of Tenerife.
They will meet at the facility in the capital from eight in the morning to five in the afternoon, Mein Schiff3 being the last to leave the facility. In addition, the capital will live the first stopover in Tenerife of the Valiant Lady.
Three units will arrive on Friday the 25th. They are the Mein Schiff4, the Europa2 and La Belle des Oceans, being the last two small luxury cruise ships that will continue in Tenerife on Saturday the 26th, to join the Ventura, Costa Luminosa and Valiant Lady, the latter on its first stopover in the Canary Islands.
Especially noteworthy is the scale of the MSC Seaside, on Wednesday the 30th, a shipping company that is working on a special event on the occasion of this visit. It should be remembered that MSC Cruises has just announced that it is reinforcing its presence in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which will be the embarkation port in the autumn season of 2022 for a 12-day, 11-night Western Mediterranean itinerary, from September to until November.
Valiant Lady’s first stopover in Tenerife
As for the Valiant Lady’s first stop in Tenerife, it is the new cruise of Richard Branson, a billionaire English businessman, known for his Virgin brand, a member of the Virgin Group. The ship will call at Tenerife as the first port of call in the Canary Islands to subsequently move to Barcelona, where it will have its base port. The ship, sponsored by Jennifer López, is dedicated solely to adult tourism and sails under sustainability concepts, which mean, for example, not having buffets on board to avoid food waste.
Forecasts
If the forecasts of the Port Authority are maintained for this 2022, the scales in the capital port will reach 360 throughout the year and in the global ports they would reach 667. Thus, the forecasts that are currently handled also reflect 171 scales of cruise ships for the port of La Palma, one hundred for La Gomera, thirty in La Estaca and six in Los Cristianos.
The capacity registered at any given time by these ships, which are still operating far from occupying their full capacity, will mark a greater or lesser number of cruise passengers.
