Members of the National Police arrested in Santa Cruz de Tenerife an adolescent as alleged perpetrator of a hate crime perpetrated in the municipality of La Laguna. The arrest came after the now accused hits, bites and insults another minor at the exit of a Compulsory Secondary Education center (ESO). In addition, the person involved in the aforementioned criminal offense addressed the affected person to denigrate him and told him that he was “a Christian” and “homosexual”.
As it turned out, the alleged aggressor related the Christian religion and homosexuality: «All Christians are fagots». According to the sources consulted, the affected person is of Spanish nationality and in the presentation of the complaint he did not state his homosexual orientation. Due to the characteristics of the matter and the references to the victim’s religion, the case was taken on by professionals assigned to the Information Brigade of the National Police.
The events under investigation occurred at the beginning of this month, at the exit of an institute in La Lagunto. The alleged assailant began to harass the other teenager by holding demonstrations. Despite trying to avoid him at all times, the victim was attacked, beaten and bitten when leaving the educational center.
Apart from the physical injuries he suffered, the attacked adolescent had an anxiety disorder that caused him other disorders, due to the fear of returning to the secondary school and running into his harasser.
