The Cabildo, Puertos de Canarias, Government of the Canary Islands, Arona City Council, the company Marina del Sur (facility concessionaire) and the San Casiano Fishermen’s Association will establish a collaboration agreement as a fundamental tool to improve and define the use and services to carry out in the facilities of the Port of Las Galletas, especially in the area where fishermen carry out their activity.
The Island Corporation unanimously reached this agreement at the proposal of the Canarian Coalition (CC), amended by the Popular Party (PP). Valentín González Évora, popular councilor, who clarifies that the agreement includes the need to condition the spaces for the use of fishermen. From the PP “we have added one of the claims that the president of the fishermen’s association transferred to us.” It consists of “enabling and putting into use and service the crane located in the port facilities”.

González Évora also indicates that “this agreement will allow establishing the most appropriate economic collaboration formula, in addition to requesting and obtaining the necessary authorizations by the regional port administration, for any modification of it.”
Representatives of the San Casiano Fishermen’s Association, from Las Galletas, held recent meetings with representatives of the Popular Party and the Canarian Coalition. This group is integrated into the National Federation of Artisanal Fishing, of which it is its representative in the Islands.
The San Casiano Association of Professional Artisanal Fishing Shipowners was officially established on May 22, 2019. It brings together 36 small-scale artisanal fishing vessels and pole-and-line tuna vessels on the island of Tenerife, 20 of them in the existing fishing port in the marina. from the port of Las Galletas, and seven more in the rest of the islands of the Canary Archipelago, which generate approximately 150 direct jobs.
