SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 18. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de La Palma, through the Ministry of Social Action, has already paid 191,000 euros to students affected by the volcanic crisis and who are studying outside the island.
It is about aid of 1,000 euros to each student who has been affected by the eruption. These subsidies are added to those already delivered, through two previous payments, of 75,000 euros in December and 87,000 euros in February, with which 191 students have been reached.
The Minister of Social Action, Nieves Hernández, recalled that this action seeks to help reduce the damage caused by the emergency to many of these families who, in addition to being affected by the eruption, have to deal with the support of students who live outside of the island.
“Once the deadline for submitting applications by students has ended, we have completed the payment of aid, something we have done as quickly as possible to respond to the needs of palm students,” explained the counselor.
For her part, the Minister of Education, Susana Machín, explained that these aids benefit students of university studies, professional training or postgraduate studies, which are carried out outside La Palma, and have been directly affected by the volcano.
In addition, the counselor stressed that these have been granted following strict criteria that allow responding to the most needy families and guarantee that these young people can continue their studies.
