
Paradise Beachat Municipality of Adejewas the tourist micro-destination with the best indicators in 2021, registering an increase of 117% in overnight stays compared to the previous year, going from 315,680 to 686,743, according to data from the Ashotel Tourism Competitiveness and Sustainability Observatory based on the Survey of Tourist Accommodation of the Canary Institute of Statistics (istac).
In addition, it grew by 151.7% in staying travelers, going from 49,454 to 124,509 people, registered an average occupancy of 64% and increased hotel revenue by 123% to 44.2 million euros.
However, none of the micro-destinations have improved their figures compared to 2019, a pre-pandemic year.
After Playa Paraíso, Golf del Sur grew by almost 69% and Las Américas (Adeje area) by 66%, while among the micro-destinations that increased the least were the historic complex of Puerto de la Cruz (2.5%) and Los Cristianos ( 11.4%).
On the contrary, 4 of the 17 micro-destinations lost overnight stays last year compared to 2020. They were Callao Salvaje (Adeje), with a drop of -17.7%; Torviscas-Fañabé Alto (Adeje), -18.6%; Jardín-Maritim Beach (Puerto de la Cruz), -19.5% and Costa del Silencio (Arona), which registered the greatest reduction of these tourist areas, with -60.4%
As for the travelers accommodated, and after Playa Paraíso, Las Américas was located in the Adeje area (69%), going from 41,890 to 70,862 and Taoro-La Paz, in Puerto de la Cruz, with an increase in accommodation of almost 71%, going from 113,410 to 193,891 people.
In the case of those who lost travelers staying with respect to 2020, the same four areas coincide: Costa del Silencio (-63.7%), Torviscas-Fañabé Alto (-17.2%), Callao Salvaje (-13.4% ) and Playa Jardín-Maritim (-4.6%).
In relation to the average occupancy rate, only 8 of the 17 micro-destinations exceeded 50%: Martiánez (51.3%), Costa Adeje (51.9%), Los Gigantes (52.5%), Playa Jardín-Maritim ( 53.3%), Playa de El Duque (56.1%), Las Américas de Adeje (56.2%), Playa Paraíso (64%) and Golf del Sur, the highest with 70.6%.
However, none of these areas improved data from 2019, whose average throughout the island stood at 70.5%.
In terms of hotel revenue, and after Playa Paraíso, Las Américas de Adeje was located, with 84.3% more –20.2 million–; Golf del Sur, with 64.5% more –30.8 million– and Playa de El Duque, with 58.6% more –156.1 million–.
