The tailor’s story, the work that rescues some of the harsh episodes experienced in La Palma during the outbreak of the civil war, arrives this week in Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The montage recounts the case of Félix García Durán, a tailor by profession, imprisoned for several years and stripped of all his assets for his involvement with an anti-fascist pamphlet, in a story written in the present by his own great-grandson, and performed by the company Palmer The tailor shop The show can be seen this Friday 18th at the Guiniguada Theater, and on Saturday 19th at Espacio La Granja, as part of the #EnElFoco initiative, dedicated to emerging artistic creation. Tickets are now available at the price of 8 euros.
Carlos de León, author of the text and professor at the Municipal School of Theater of Santa Cruz de la Palma, rescues a personal story, and of overcoming, of betrayals, but also of affection and support beyond ideologies. The case of Durán is the story of many palmeros who lived through the so-called “Red Week” that followed the coup of 1936 and its subsequent bloody repression. The stage assembly has been carried out under the direction of Rafael Rodríguez.
