The Cabildo puts into operation three new drones for surveillance tasks in the natural environmentl. The Cabildo, through the area of Management of the Natural Environment and Safety has recently acquired these three drones that will be used mainly for the development of technical work such as the aforementioned and other cases of topographic surveys, wildlife surveillance, monitoring of forestry and repopulation work, evaluation of erosion control or monitoring of the works carried out on tracks and trails.
These new units are incorporated into the technical staff of the Environment agents “with the intention of increasing the means of surveillance and control in the protected natural spaces of the Island”, explains Minister García.
The intention of the area is to complement, as far as possible, all the necessary tools “for the development of the control of infractions in the environment, but also for the analysis of circumstances such as forest fires,” says the counselor.

The three devices, 2 DJI Mavic Enterprise Dual models and one Mavic Enterprise Advanced, as well as the spare parts kits with batteries, focus loudspeaker and night flight beacon, together with its equipment made up of spare parts, GPS beacon, fleet control software, insurance and memory cards, have been acquired with a total budget of 13,137 euros .
With this technology, environmental agents will also be able to survey illegal constructions and non-permitted uses of spaces; even missing person searches or rescues in between.
