The territorial delegation of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the islands reports that adverse weather events (FMA) will continue this Tuesday due to strong winds and waves of between five and six meters high on the coast of the Canary Islands.
Regarding the wind, David Suárez states that the strength of the wind is expected to decrease considerably in almost the entire Archipelago in the late afternoon and evening hours. On this Tuesday the orange warnings will be maintained due to the wind at the summit of La Palma, as well as in the north, northeast and metropolitan area of Tenerife. And in these enclaves it will subside in the late afternoon.
Regarding coastal phenomena, the State Meteorological Agency predicts that there will be waves between five and six meters high on all the islands. And it is not ruled out that, in a timely manner, there are enclaves in which this level can be increased, says Suárez.
For Wednesday, the warnings for coastal phenomena will drop to yellow, with waves of four or five meters. Starting tomorrow, the storm will weaken and move towards the Mediterranean area, they explain from the territorial delegation of the State Meteorological Agency in the Autonomous Community.
According to the website of said organization, there will be a decrease in the snow level, with the probability of precipitation in the form of snow above 1,500 meters of altitude at the end of the day. In addition, it is not ruled out that storms will be recorded in the surroundings of the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa later in the day.
Cloudy, tending to cover in the afternoon, with weak to moderate rains and occasionally in the form of showers, in the north and interior of the islands with greater relief and in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. There is a probability of precipitation in the form of snow above 1500-1600 meters at the end of the day, especially on the islands of Tenerife and La Palma, while the probability in Gran Canaria will be low. Storms are not ruled out in the surroundings of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and with less probability in Fuerteventura, later this Tuesday.
Temperatures will tend to decrease in general, being notable in the areas of midlands and summits. The wind will be from the northwest strong with very strong intervals, being able to occasionally exceed 70 kilometers per hour locally throughout the Archipelago. In the case of the summit and channel areas oriented to the Southeast, the gusts may reach 90 kilometers per hour, according to the State Meteorological Agency.
