Santiago del Teide experienced on the morning of last Sunday, March 13, a historic event for the municipality, and that is that the San Fernando Rey Parish began the “Jubilee Year” – on the occasion of the celebration of the Jacobean Year – after the recent granting of the same by the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Holy See and with the purpose of granting, to all the people who wish it, the Plenary Indulgences.
Thus, it is worth mentioning that the beginning of the Jubilee Year in the aforementioned temple took place with the opening of the Holy Door and the Solemn Celebration of the Eucharist, both acts presided over by Bishop Don Bernardo Álvarez and whose celebration was attended by the Mayor , Emilio Navarro, the Mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, the municipal corporation of Santiago del Teide, as well as various invited mayors from municipalities such as Gáldar, Arico, Candelaria and El Rosario; highlighting that said liturgical event also had the participation of the security forces of the municipality.
Finally, through this concession, the San Fernando Rey Parish of Santiago del Teide becomes the First Jubilee Temple on the island of Tenerife, thus assuming an event that will form part of the historical memory of the municipality.
