Work begins in Los Realejos on the pumping station on Calle La Alhóndiga

The Municipality of Los Realejos announces the start this Monday, March 14, 2022 of the execution works of a new wastewater pumping station in Alhondiga streetin the zone of San Agustin and Realejo Bajothanks to an agreement with the Council of Tenerifewithin the joint investments planned in the Municipal Cooperation Plan. This infrastructure will improve the capture, conduction, impulsion and evacuation of the sewage water of the whole environment towards the municipal network and the general network of collectors of the Orotava Valley.

«The provision of this new pumping station It will allow the general sewage network to be promoted for domestic water coming from different towns in the municipalitycorrecting the capacity problems facing important avenues that the existing small EBAR was having, also contemplating the renovation of the network that runs along La Alhóndiga street itself with a new gravity collector, which will be redeveloped after these canalization works”, details Laura Lima (PP).

From the Municipal Planning Departmentin coordination with the construction management and the Local Police, it is reported that in the first phase of the work, starting today and for a period of approximately two weeks, a lane will be cut between the intersections of Calle La Alhóndiga with Barranco de Godínez and with La Unión street, but traffic will be regulated by two signal operators.

The objective of these initial works is to undertake the diversion of the power line that runs in the surroundings of the building that was former headquarters of the Los Realejos Philharmonic Musical Societya disused property, which will be demolished to build the aforementioned EBAR, burying the line under the La Alhóndiga street road itself.

After this phase, the works will continue with the general endowment of the new sanitation network, with which the construction of different manholes, ledge wells and a large entrance manhole to the EBAR is planned, in order to give continuity to the water towards the collectors ready for it.

Regarding the subsequent urbanization of Alhondiga streetadvances the first deputy mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo Gonzalez (PP)which “in its new design provides for a future reorganization of the circulation of road traffic as well as the demanded expansion of sidewalks that facilitate accessibility, which in some of its sections is not sufficient at present”.

€1.8 million

The mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Domínguez (PP), stresses that his local government will continue to commit to “the improvement of infrastructures, giving special importance to those that have to do with water management, supply, waste collection, rainwater or sanitation, as in this case, a set of necessary projects such as this new EBAR in La Alhóndiga, the general sanitation that is being developed in the Urbanization of La Carrera or the provision of a sanitation network in Calle Reyes Católicos, all of them with high budgets, totaling around 1.8 million euros of investment, which have been negotiated for co-financing together with the Cabildo de Tenerife, which we are grateful for from the City Council”.
