SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 11. (EUROPE PRESS) –
La Gomera Airport has put 56 new parking spaces into service, in addition to the 120 available in the car park that the airport infrastructure has had since its opening in 1999.
The new facilities, attached to the terminal building and with an investment of close to 150,000 euros, make it possible to increase the parking space, in addition to providing it with two additional spaces for people with reduced mobility.
The increase in the demand for parking areas, derived from the increase in the number of passengers, has motivated the provision of the new surface, which is equipped with a new surface and drainage elements and lighting.
In addition, the existing sidewalk has been modified and vertical and horizontal signage has been installed and a new automated side access door to the terminal building has been enabled.
La Gomera airport received just over 81,000 passengers in 2021, according to provisional data corresponding to last year.
This volume of travelers represents a growth of 45.7% compared to 2020 and 4.9% compared to 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Within Aena’s plans to improve vehicle parking at Canarian airports, there is also that of El Hierro, whose expansion project is currently in the final drafting phase.
