It is not new that in San Isidro, in Granadilla de Abona, there is an eviction. On this occasion, the latest victim is a 78-year-old man who had rented a room in a house to a squat and who has now seen how a bank, owner of the property, has executed the launch.
José Manuel has received the support of the Las Acacias neighborhood association and, although Social Services of Granadilla de Abona told him that they would help him with the payment of five nights in a hotel, he had to be the one who paid it (140 euros) at least until tomorrow, when he will be on the street again, having nowhere to go and no other recourse than a small pension that does not come to pay for more stay in the hotel.
Precisely, the fact of having a pension is the reason used by the City Council for not providing rental assistance, in a municipality where the demand for housing far exceeds the supply.
Without going any further, just yesterday, a family of eight members was evicted. It is the almost daily sad story in Granadila.
