Those families among the 76 who reside in the Galdós Building (La Jurada, San Isidro) who cannot acquire the homes they live in before September 12 are at risk of being evicted by the municipal company Sermugran. A public denunciation of the PSOE of Granadilla de Abona that the municipal government describes as “false”. The property is made up of social housing on a rental basis with the option to buy after 10 years, “as established by the socialist government group in September 2012,” says the governing pact (CC-PP).
The socialist spokeswoman, Jennifer Miranda, assures that “most of the tenants are in a situation of special vulnerability, are dependent or elderly”, with difficulties in accessing a mortgage, as has happened in several cases. “The municipal company intends to proceed with the sale of the properties to pay off the loan and execute the eviction of those people who cannot afford their purchase,” she adds.
The government and the public company report that “in no way will action be taken to the detriment of tenant families who cannot afford the purchase.” They assure that “the necessary alternatives will be sought for the benefit of those people in a situation of greater vulnerability”, as “it has been done to facilitate the payment of rents when they could not pay them”.
