The National Police established in Adeje, at the end of last February, a special device against falsehoods in articles of prestigious brands exposed for sale to the public.
The investigation of the agents focused on five establishments in the town of Adeje, after learning that there was a possibility that these businesses sold counterfeit items and, therefore, committed a crime against industrial property.
In the device developed, in which an official expert from the affected brands participated, the agents verified the existence of multiple products that, without being so, gave the appearance of articles from prestigious firms.
The counterfeit items were mainly fashion accessories and sports equipment from popular international football clubs.
The investigators proceeded to arrest five people in the establishments that were inspected and involved more than 360 products, whose market value could amount to 140,000 euros.
The facts were reported to the competent judicial authority. The actions were carried out by national police officers from the South Tenerife National Police Station.
