The Municipality of La Orotava announces the execution of the largest asphalt plan in its history with a global investment of more than three million euros, financed with the help of the Council of Tenerife. the village mayor, Francisco Linares (CC)highlights that in the municipal budget of 2022 «A great commitment has been made to increase these items and thus be able to meet the existing needs in the different population centers. Throughout this mandate”, and despite the impact of the pandemic of Covid-19“practically all the neighborhoods and many of the central streets of the municipality have already been intervened, but there are still many actions pending,” acknowledges the president.
According to Linares, asphalt paving is “a constant task, which has been given a great boost in the last two years. In the past year, 2021, action was taken on almost thirty roads spread throughout the town, and a similar amount is expected for this year. Of the actions planned for the year 2022, the mayor of Villero highlights two “because of their relevance and because they are highly demanded by the residents: the first phase of the paving of the highway of La Luzand the improvement of the streets of the San Jerónimo industrial and commercial estatealso in its first phase.
The Councilor for Planning and Infrastructures, Narciso Perez (CC), has been in charge of coordinating these projects and details that the action on the La Luz road, in which some 280,000 euros are expected to be invested, “will allow more than half of the road to be improved, and it will begin with the section that is in a worse state.” This first phase goes from urbanization Mayorazgo up to the intersection of Camino del Pino, which will benefit the neighborhoods and urbanizations of San Miguel and Las Candias. In a second phase, the section that includes the neighborhood of La Luz will be intervened, “since this area is in a better state of conservation.”
The island administration allocates two million euros to TF-21 and Nelson Mandela Avenue
Pérez also values the importance of the intervention in the main roads of the San Jerónimo estate, which includes “the main avenue in its entirety”, in addition to the accesses to the Island Solid Waste Plant (PIRS). “We are aware of the poor condition of the pavement on these roads, so, despite the fact that the polygon San Jerónimo it is included in the insular plans for this type of infrastructure, we cannot keep waiting”, highlights the mayor, who adds that “the state of the pavement affects the safety of users in many points”. About 480,000 euros will be invested in the tracks of this polygon.
Francis Linares points out that “there has been a commitment from the president of the Cabildo for a few months, Pedro Martin (PSOE), to collaborate in the financing of this action in San Jerónimo. In these days the project will be sent to the Cabildo, in order to be able to count on that financial support.
Both in the case of the La Luz highway and the San Jerónimo industrial estate, actions to improve road safety and accessibility are included, as is done in all projects of these characteristics that are drawn up by the Villero Consistory. The institution deals in parallel with projects to improve “many other roads in the municipality”, such as the case of the Mayorazgo urbanization, where the improvement of one of its main streets has been completed these days, next to the Telesforo Bravo Visitor Center , of the Teide National Park. The Departments of Planning and Infrastructure and Works and Services They work in a coordinated way to carry out other works to improve the surface next summer in areas of the town and the neighborhoods.
A few days ago the asphalting work of the TF-21 from La Cuesta de la Villa also began, which includes Paseo de Las Araucarias, Plaza de La Paz, Obispo Benítez de Lugo avenue and Sor Soledad Cobián avenue up to the Recodo roundabout. In addition, intervention will be carried out at the entrance through El Ramal, on Nelson Mandela Avenue. A work that the Villero Government hopes will “begin shortly.” Only these two actions carried out by the Cabildo de Tenerife represent an investment of almost two million euros and will allow “the total renovation of the main accesses to the center of La Orotava”, Linares values.
“From the City Council we have been demanding these actions for years, some projects that were drafted from the beginning of this mandate and that are finally beginning to be executed,” says Linares. Between the plan promoted by the City Council of La Orotava with its own resources and the actions of the Cabildo, “the Villa faces this year the largest plan for the renovation of public roads in its history”, sentence the mayor of La Orotava.
