The Department of Education of Los Realejos, led by Carmen Rosa Pérez (PP), has given aid in the form of public transport vouchers to 208 students from the municipality who are studying outside the town “since these training disciplines are not offered in the municipality ». These are university students, from some training cycles, from the Higher Conservatory of Music, Artistic Baccalaureate or Initial Professional Qualification Programs.
The Los Realejos City Council allocated 32,000 euros to this call for aid for the current 2021-2022 academic year, through TEN+ transport cards for use in the public bus and tram service. The local government explains that it is “a support line for students that was born as an alternative to those already offered by other public administrations.”
Some of the requirements to benefit from this aid are having habitual and uninterrupted residence in the municipality for at least the last two years, being enrolled in the centers that are specified and not receiving income for the family unit higher than the parameters stipulated in the bases themselves. based on their number of members.
«Year after year we have seen the need to continue increasing the financial amount allocated to these aids in order to be able to reach a greater number of students or to increase the value of the aid to those who request it, so that of the 30,000 euros from the previous year, a budget of 32,000 euros has been changed for this call”, details Carmen Rosa Pérez.
For the realejero mayor, Manuel Domínguez (PP), «it is one more municipal measure to facilitate the best preparation of our neighbors, bringing them closer to the regulated training points. In addition, it represents an economic saving for their pockets and is an initiative that is also in line with sustainability, the promotion of collective transport and the reduction of the number of vehicles on the island’s roads.
