The National Police will reinforce the Security Devices that it has been specifically developing in the leisure areas of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna, at the times when the greatest influx of young people occurs. As a result of the latest altercations that have occurred, the devices will have the presence and active intervention of specialized units in maintaining Citizen Security in the leisure areas of the Cuadrilátero, La Laguna, and in the leisure areas of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The 10th Police Intervention Unit, the Prevention and Reaction Unit of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Response Operational Group of the La Laguna Police Station will participate, and will also have the support of the Citizen Attention Group of La Laguna and Santa Tenerife Cross.
All this in order to avoid altercations and events such as the one that occurred in the area in the early hours of last Monday, March 1, as well as the situation created that same night in the vicinity of a nightclub near the Maritime Park of Santa Cruz de Tenerife .
In La Laguna, the National Police arrested five people between the ages of 22 and 35, with no police record, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of attacking law enforcement officers, injuries and against public order, in the area of ” quadrilateral”. The acting agents were attacked while trying to resolve a brawl between two groups of people.
The devices, whose main objective is prevention, seek, through the presence of agents, to avoid disturbances of order that may result in personal or material damage in those time slots with the greatest gathering of people.
During the deployment of the device established in the leisure area known as “the quadrilateral”, the national police, who were carrying out their own prevention functions, heard screams coming from the vicinity of an entertainment venue, rushing to the scene as quickly as possible and observing in it a group of six young people attacking each other, before which they intervened trying to break up the fight.
At that moment and surprisingly, far from giving up their attitude, the participants in the brawl attacked the authorities in a very aggressive and hostile manner, being attacked incessantly, until they managed to subdue and arrest four of the perpetrators. , proceeding hours later to the arrest of a young woman who was also a participant.
As a result of these events, seven officers were slightly injured.
On the other hand, a few hours earlier, National Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, came to support the Local Police, in anticipation of altercations in the vicinity of a nightclub near the Parque Marítimo, given the existence of some 500 people waiting and They tried to access it without sufficient capacity inside, not keeping the necessary safety distance and refusing to vacate the place. The National Police took charge of the actions, carrying out a deployment of its troops, to disperse the congregated, and resolve the situation peacefully, without incidents occurring, the local Police collaborating in the action.
After instructing the corresponding report, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
