Agents of the National Police have arrested a 60-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of attempted murder in Tenerife. The events took place on February 19, in Tejina.
As reported by the police in a statement, a group of friends raised the alarm when one of their vehicles caught fire. One of them, a 59-year-old man, realized that an acquaintance of his was next to the burning vehicle. When reproaching him for what he was doing, the now detained man sprayed flammable liquid and set fire to the man, causing burns on his body so serious that he had to be transferred immediately to the health center and, from there, urgently to the hospital. .
The national police, once notified of the serious event, quickly moved both to the health center and to the place where the events had occurred. They collected the first statements from the witnesses, including the identity of the alleged perpetrator, seized the bottle containing the liquid and protected the crime scene.
Moments later, the National Police arrested the alleged perpetrator of the act in the vicinity of the place of the fire, after being identified.
The subsequent investigation revealed that this person claimed to have had a traffic incident with the victim and this would have motivated the fatal outcome.
The detainee, together with the report prepared for this purpose, was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which determined his admission to prison. The actions were carried out by national police officers from the La Laguna National Police Station.
