The City Hall of Santa Cruz de Tenerife allocates about 3 million euros to financing the public service of physical sports activities in the city for the next four years. The councilor responsible for the Sports area, Alicia Cebrianexplain what this new contract will be put out to tender shortlyraised to expand and modernize the offer of activities in the city.
The Governing Board of the Santa Cruz City Council has already approved the hiring file for the service of physical-sports activities of the municipality with a duration of four years, “which supposes a firm commitment to sport in the five districts of the capital”, according to the government group in a release.
This new contract has a basic bidding budget of about 750,000 euros per year, with a duration of four years, for which the total investment amounts to 3 million euros, with the possibility for the successful bidder to obtain one more year of extension. In the opinion of Alicia Cebrian, “This contract is one of the key pieces of the change that is planned by the Sports Service to reactivate municipal sports as we overcome the pandemic.” For the mayor, “this contract will mean more activities, as well as a municipal offer adapted for all residents in all districts. In addition, it will encompass all aspects of physical education: sports recreation, fitness, physical activity or sports initiation, among others».

The person in charge of Sports explained that “the entire offer of directed activities is integrated into a single contract, simplifying administrative procedures, thus trying to improve the execution, control and evaluation of the sports programming of the municipal service.” Among other issues, “the modernization of the Sports area is contemplated, integrating attention to the public and the registration of activities, as well as updating the access systems to the different municipal sports offers. The successful bidder must make the investment in a mobile office that will have face-to-face hours in the morning and afternoon », he explained.
The councilor adds that «this contract will make possible an offer adapted to citizen demand with special attention to functional diversity and personal and family conciliation». The activities will be carried out both in municipal facilities and in parks and squares. It is a contract with flexibility to adapt to changes in trends and demand.
