The yellow notice (pre-alert) due to strong gusts of wind it will last until Ash Wednesday in the Canary archipelagoaccording to the Territorial Delegation in the Canary Islands of the Astate meteorological agency (Aemet).
In that way, this Tuesday of Carnival March 1 and the beginning of meteorological spring, probable very strong gusts of wind from the north are expected, which could reach 70 kilometers per hour in Lanzarote, Fuerteventurasummits of The Palm, Tenerife and Gran Canariaas well as in the east and northwest of The Palm, east and west of Gran Canaria and northwest and east of Tenerife. It has also been issued orange warning for gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour in high areas and the east and west slopes of The iron and La Gomera.
Lanzarote and the western slope of Fuerteventura may have winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour and occasionally they could reach 70 kilometers per hour in Jandía.
With regard to Wednesday, the Aemet contemplates the yellow warning for possible northerly component winds exceeding 70 kilometers per hour on the eastern slope and extreme northwest of Tenerife and Gran Canaria in the early morning hours, as well as in the east and northwest of La Palma and in high areas and east and west faces of El Hierro and La Gomera during the first half of the day.
Throughout the day on Wednesday the wind will decrease in intensity from east to west, and there may still be gusts that occasionally exceed 70 kilometers per hour until the end of the day in the westernmost islands of the Canary Islands.
