The number of hospitalized by Covid drops 39% in two weeks

The number of patients admitted with coronavirus in the hospitals of the Archipelago it has decreased by 39% in two weeks. Taking into account the data released by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands on February 13, in the region there were 479 people affected by the microorganism in plants covid and 73 in critical beds, although this Sunday the counts were reduced to 294 and 43, respectively. Right now, Gran Canaria is the island that bears the greatest healthcare pressure, as it has 161 patients in conventional beds –40 more than Tenerife– and with 25 in those assigned to intensive -nine more-.

The autonomous community has today added 767 infections and, for the second consecutive day, four deaths associated with the virus. Three of the deaths occurred in Gran Canaria and one in La Gomera. These new deaths, which are pending validation by the General Directorate of Public Health, bring the general death registry to 1,577 since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Taking into account the new cases by islands, Tenerife has recorded 256 clinical pictures; Gran Canaria 414; Lancelot 24; Fuerteventura 17; La Palma 39; La Gomera 11; and El Hierro six.

In total, there are 14,307 people affected by Covid-19 in the Canary Islands -129 less than in the previous 24 hours. Most are in Gran Canaria, where there are 6,666 positives. It is followed by Tenerife, with 5,898; Fuerteventura, with 716; Lancelot, with 531; La Palma, with 383; La Gomera, with 87; and El Hierro, with 26.

In the last few hours, 892 people have received epidemiological dischargewhich brings the computation of recovered to 273,396.

So far, they have been practiced 3.255.5333 diagnostic testsof which 3,403 were made during Saturday –1,867 less than on Friday–.

The accumulated incidence in the last seven days stands at 459.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants – 196.8 points more than last Sunday, February 20–, while that of the last 14 days reflects 737.61 frames on the same number of people –215.5 points more–.

Advance in vaccination

The latest update of the progress in the vaccination campaign against Covid reveals that, until last Thursday, the inoculation teams of the Canary Health Service (SCS) had administered 4,274,666 doses of the compounds, which has made it possible to complete the guidelines to 1,742,908 people, 83% of the target population of the Islands. In addition, 1,831,745 inhabitants have already agreed to at least one puncture. It should be noted that of the total number of injections administered, 830,328 correspond to booster doses, which are indicated for all people of legal age.
