Tegueste hosts the Sardine of Inclusion in March

Tegueste hosts the celebration of Sardine of the Inclusion on March 9 and 10. It is an act that aims to make visible the reality of people with disabilities, as well as highlighting the work carried out in the field of social inclusion by different associations and educational entities. The event, which includes workshops, talks and other initiatives, was presented on Wednesday by the mayor, Ana Rosa Mena; the Councilor for Social Welfare, Candelaria de la Rosa, and the organizer, Joseph John Cruz.

«Social inclusion and the enhancement of diversity is a transversal line of work in this municipality; the fact that Tegueste hosts an event like the Sardine of Inclusion is to say the least a reason for pride”, Mena said.

Due to the situation generated by the pandemic, in this edition the popular parade cannot be held, but an exhibition of different social institutions will be held in San Marcos Square, a percussion workshop will be held and musical performances will be scheduled. with the artists Ithaisa and Dan Sign, among other planned activities. The Sardine of Inclusion will complete its programming with a day dedicated to good practices, in which issues such as challenges and proposals for universal accessibility design will be discussed.

José Juan Cruz pointed out that the Sardine of Inclusion has been celebrated for 16 years. “Although the pandemic has also wreaked havoc on its celebration, the participating groups have worked in an online format that now takes a new turn towards a more pedagogical vision,” he said.
